Waterways Ireland Archives

Waterways Ireland challenged us to find a way to promote their new Online Archive to the right audience in the right way. This was a niche project with a specific audience, of both professionals and enthusiasts, and our task was to make sure archives didn’t mean stuffy!

We researched and pinpointed what we thought were the most interesting elements of the archive such as long forgotten pictures from former engineers of how canal gates were built decades ago, and some lovely old footage of boats on the busy waterways. We met with those who host and support the archive to hear their story and the importance of maintaining the information online. We pulled together some classic footage and interspersed with some fresh footage of the waterways and the buildings around it.

We interviewed key stakeholders to explain the relevance of the projects and were able to deliver an 18 minute video with some great content and, we think, impressive visuals. Waterways Ireland were delighted with the end product.
